A board and train is a program where your dog lives with a trainer in their home, and they do all the work for you. The trainer experiences all of the behaviors that you do. They work with your dog daily on your goals, doing training sessions and real-life training. What is real life training? Having your dog place on a dog bed while company enters their home and working on their greetings. Or taking them to a soccer game or parade. Or letting them hangout while their family cooks and eats dinner, and working on counter surfing at the same time. Your dog is socialized with other dogs and gets play time as well. The trainer sends you daily pics and videos of your dog training, so you’re always in the loop! This full emersion program works very quickly, and your dog is trained and ready to go home within weeks! The trainer teaches you how to maintain your training in a return lesson, and also does a follow up lesson a week later to make sure everything is still working. These programs are great for the busy families, or people traveling who are going to board their dog anyways. They are very successful as long as you remain consistent.

Don't want to part with your pup? Private lessons are where a trainer shows you how to train your dog. In the 1st lesson, you will learn how to get your dog's attention, loose leash walking, recall, sitting, stopping nuisance behavior such as jumping, nipping, chewing, digging or barking. After completing your first lesson, you will have daily homework with your dog. If you can work with your dog for 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times a day, the private lessons will work. The next week, you will do a review of previous commands. Then you will learn how to place your dog, how to make them stay, work on greetings, impulse control, distraction training, quiet command, and how to release them for break. A week later is the 3rd lesson. After reviewing everything from the 1st 2 lessons, the trainer will introduce another dog. You will work on leash manners and greetings in the presence of another dog and learn how control your pup. You will even learn to place your dog, and have them stay, while you greet another dog! You will end the lesson with a little training on public manners. After that your dog will graduate, and you will be able to start attending group classes. You will still have 2 additional lessons to use. You can use them to work on anything you need help with. This package requires a high level of commitment from the owners to do daily homework exercises, and remain consistent at home, even when they are not actively training. This package is not good for a household where the family is extremely busy, works long hours, lacks consistency in the house with commands. This package is great for someone who doesn't want to part with their pup, wants to put in the work themselves, and has the time to do it. Lessons take place in Culpeper County and Warrenton. These packages start at $1100 and include 5 private one on one sessions, ongoing support, and all of our client's perks, including group class! We also offer payment plans.

CGC Tests are done at different locations throughout the year. Your dog must listen to you without the use of treats, prong collars, or electric collars. There are 10 tasks your pup must be able to do. Once they have passed the test and are atleast 1 year old, they are eligible to test for therapy or service dog certification.
Does your dog have a higher calling? We can help you achieve your therapy or service dog goals. Whether you want to share your pup with the world, or have them become your personal service dog, we can show you the way. We can administer your testing, and help get them certified! Need a little help getting them to that level of obedience? We can help with that too.
